Rachel Ries, the writer, multi-instrumentalist and producer behind Her Crooked Heart, demonstrates immense vulnerability and multifaceted musical craftsmanship in delivering personal and profound musical soliloquies on love, leaving and the life that follows after burning it all down.

...at least that's what I said I did before the pandemic. We're well past the 'burning it all down' phase and deep into the 'growing rich gardens in the hopes of feeding anyone who needs.'

I've gone fairly quiet since lockdown.

– Writing & recording a ton... but mostly sharing those odd creations with my patrons (join in!).

– Creating steadily... but mostly that looks like building a little house with my own two hands

(Livable sculpture!) or gardening or project managing the design of beautiful spaces.

– Collaborating extensively... but that's mostly leading Kith + Kin Chorus, the 75-member rock/roll choir I launched 7 years ago.

More albums are coming. I'm sitting on a treasure trove of tunes. Watch this space or other internety zones.

Oh – one thing that hasn't changed: the members of Her Crooked Heart – Hilary, Siri, Addie, Hannah – are off making their own music and we continue to be dearest friends. Going for walks, having each other over for dinner, sharing weekly office hours, helping each other with construction projects and having each other's backs.

We'll see what the future holds but now is pretty sweet.
